NOVEMBER proved a difficult time for Keynsham Town as their defence conceded 16 goals in five matches, but the team has progressed to the second round of the Les Phillips (League) Cup.
The month started badly with a 6-2 home defeat at the AJN Stadium to Westbury United. After a fairly even first half, Westbury scored five times in the second to leave the home fans stunned.
A chance to make amends followed just four days later when the Ks travelled to Bishops Lydeard in the Les Phillips Cup and they came away with a confidence-building 4-0 victory to set up a second-round tie away to Roman Glass St George.
The following Saturday a return trip in the league, to Clevedon Town, following Ks’ narrow Somerset Cup victory in October, brought a thrilling match.  Keynsham Town trailed 3-0 at one time, recovered to 3-3, only to be defeated by a last-minute goal.
Back home, the visit of Cribbs brought another big defeat. Despite going 2-0 up in eight minutes, Keynsham were 4-2 down by half time and eventually lost 5-2.  Changes were made for the next match, the second round of the Somerset Premier Cup at home to Bridgwater Town.  This time the visitors, flying high in the league, were made to work hard for their victory, which came via a solitary first-half goal.
November’s schedule published in the last edition of the Keynsham Voice was disrupted by a floodlight failure, but with that now fixed, matches should go ahead as planned. However, please visit toolstationleague.com to check before travelling.
The next home match will be a return visit of Bridgwater Town for a league match on December 7, where another close encounter can be anticipated.  This is quickly followed the following Tuesday by a visit from local rivals Cadbury Heath.
That is last home fixture for 2019 but the Ks will be playing just a mile from their base on Boxing Day against Brislington at Ironmould Lane, kick off 1 pm.
