Beautiful blooms will form the centrepiece of celebrations to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday in Keynsham.

St John’s Church is hosting a flower festival in tribute to the monarch’s milestone year on June 11 and 12.

As well as a series of floral arrangements created for the event, there will be 20 themed displays around the church, each one celebrating an aspect of the Queen’s life and interests – including Childhood, War Time, Wedding Anniversaries, Hats, Horse Racing, her faith, the Commonwealth, the Diamond Jubilee and, of course, Corgis!

There will also be a rolling slide show of photographs of the Queen and of Keynsham over the last 90 years, which has been specially created by Keynsham and Saltford Local History
Society.

A member of the festival organising committee, Graham Shaw, said:  “We are delighted to be able to open up St John’s Church so that the whole community has an opportunity to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday.

“We have received so much support and enthusiasm from local organisations and businesses which have provided financial support for the festival, or have offered the creative flair of their flower arrangers to make this a really special occasion.”

The festival, which is free to enter, will be open to the public on Saturday, June 11, from 9.30am-12.30pm and then 2.30-8pm. On Sunday, June 12, doors will open from 12.30-6pm. Refreshments will be available.
