Hodgepodge Theatre bring the celebrated Be Happy, Henry Hippo to Keynsham
An award-winning play that tackles childhood depression will be raising smiles among local families when it comes to Keynsham this month.
Hodgepodge Theatre is bringing Be Happy, Harry Hippo to The Space on Saturday, July 7, following its successful debut in April at the Swindon Fringe Festival, where it picked up the award for Best Kids’ Show.
The production features puppetry, physical theatre and comedy and explores the growing issue of childhood depression while offering families, teachers and children ways to both recognise and assist a child struggling with the condition.
The show, which is suitable for children aged three and up, is performed by Trowbridge-based actor Liam Wyatt and Frome-based actor Ross Scott, who was the winner of the 2017 Rose Bowl award in the Best Actor category.
Harry Hippo has lost his smile and can’t seem to get it back so the show offers the ultimate pick-me-up, taking him on a journey to remember all the things that make him truly happy.
Bath-based Hodgepodge Theatre formed in 2016 and specialises in making difficult subjects accessible for families via puppetry and theatre. Previous shows include The Homeless Panda and Reindeer on the Roof!
Be Happy, Harry Hippo is at The Space on July 7 from 11am to noon and tickets, priced £6, are available from www.ticketsource.co.uk/date/480537
