History society to record local memories of Keynsham and Saltford for radio broadcasts
Local historians are hoping to record memories to produce spoken history pieces for local radio – and they are calling on residents to get involved.
Keynsham and Saltford Local History Society’s Paul Rabbeth, who is leading the project, said: “We are relying on local people to come forward.
“If you or someone you know has reminiscences of our area and could spare some time to talk to us and let us record them please contact me either by email on email@example.com, or leave a message on 07770 794628.”
Do you remember Woolworths on the High Street and where you could get your umbrella repaired? Where is the site of the White Hart Inn where the Duke of Monmouth stayed and later, much later, there was a dance hall with a bad reputation that was eventually burnt down?
The society says there is no limit to the memories that are never written down but they all form a vital piece of local history.
Paul added: “The society needs your help, so do come and join in.”
Anyone who would like to be part of collecting the spoken history can also contact Paul – training and equipment can be provided.
