LITTER-picking volunteers in Keynsham are being encouraged to go it alone to keep the town looking good during the coronavirus pandemic.
Keep Britain Tidy has decided to postpone its Great British Spring Clean until September.
It has also advised that all group clean-ups should stop until the end of April, when the situation will be reviewed.
But members of Keynsham Wombles are being asked to follow the example of volunteer Alex Price in continuing their valuable work while staying safe.
Erica Davies, of the Keynsham Wombles community group, said: “Obviously, this is very disappointing, but we need to keep ourselves protected. I was very cheered up, though, by the sight of Alex doing his own litter pick.
“I know many of you do this anyway, so let's be like Alex and do our own litter picks when we are out and about getting our daily allowed dose of fresh air, making sure to keep a safe distance of course.”
Any Womble who needs extra equipment is asked to contact Erica, Keynsham’s Chief Womble, at womble@transitionkeynsham.org
She said: “Any rubbish you collect can be placed in or next to a B&NES street bin, or in your bin at home if you have room.”
If neither of those options are suitable, please contact Erica.
