Former head takes on new challenge
Dr Matthew Cottrell is set to leave Wellsway Multi Academy Trust
FORMER Keynsham headteacher Dr Matthew Cottrell, is set to share his knowledge and experience with schools around the region.
Dr Cottrell, who was head at St John’s Church of England Primary School from 2006, leading it to two consecutive outstanding Ofsted judgements, will leave Wellsway Multi Academy Trust at the end of April.
He has been deputy chief executive of the trust and director of primary for nearly five years and has led the development of its primary phase, which from September will number eight schools.
Dr Cottrell is a National Leader of Education and will work as a school improvement consultant and in school inspection, sharing
his extensive knowledge and experience more widely.
He said: “I have spent almost five hugely enjoyable years working for the trust. During this time the trust has grown and has developed to become an organisation that makes a real difference to pupils’ life chances.
“It has been a privilege and an honour to have been part of this exciting process.”
Andrea Arlidge, chief executive of Wellsway Multi Academy Trust, said: “Matthew has made a wonderful contribution to education in Keynsham and beyond. Our loss is the wider school community’s gain.”
