Charity blow as Santa Dash is scrapped
THE popular Saltford Santa Dash will not be taking place this year, organisers have announced.
The news about the five-mile run will come as a blow to runners and charity fundraisers. Last December’s community event attracted nearly 900 participants in Santa suits and raised money for the charities Jessie May Hospice and Home and Young Minds.
But the organising committee say that too few volunteers have come forward to help stage the event in 2019.
Richard Evans, from the committee, said they were very disappointed.
“We have been blessed with fantastic support over the past six events, which have proven very successful both in community involvement and charity fundraising terms.”
The hope is that people will step up and help revive the Santa Dash for 2020.
Mr Evans said: “Can I ask that anyone interested in joining a committee to arrange the 2020 event comes forward to register their interest, in the hope that the run can come back even stronger next year. Our contact email is email@example.com."
