Barclays to shut in Keynsham High Street
Barclays is to close its branch in Keynsham’s High Street on February 24.
The bank said that while the number of counter transactions has risen in the past two years, 84% of branch customers also do their banking online and by telephone.
In the past 12 months, 29% of the branch's customers have been using nearby branches.
“We’ve identified that only 34 customers use this branch exclusively for their banking.”
Barclays advises that customers can use post offices and LINK cash machines to access services. Following the closure, its nearest branches will be in Regent Street, Kingswood, and Broadmead, Bristol.
A rapid increase in online and mobile banking and a decrease in the use of physical branches has led to many of them disappearing from our high streets.
Barclays said: “With customers visiting our branches less and less each year, we must constantly assess how and why our branches are used and make decisions based on that insight. There will be times when this means that we will make the difficult decision to close a branch.”
