Vouchers serve up saving on sports at Keynsham Leisure Centre

Families in Keynsham are being given an extra incentive to take up sports together with the launch of a new initiative.
Keynsham Town Council has teamed up with Keynsham Leisure Centre to offer badminton court bookings at half price from 4pm to 6pm on weekdays and all day Sunday.
People can drop in to the town council offices at 15-17 Temple Street to pick up a voucher and then book a court at the leisure centre. The courts can be used for a number of activities besides badminton, including table tennis or even basketball, which is usually played over two of the courts.
The initiative was proposed by Labour town councillor Dave Biddleston and was given the full backing of the town council.
Mr Biddleston said: “This offer is open to anyone but was particularly inspired by a wish to encourage families to enjoy an activity together in the hours after school or at the weekend.
“Not only does it promote health and fitness among residents, it’s also a good example of two organisations working together for the benefit of the community.
“By visiting the town council office, people will be able to get information on the many other activities in Keynsham, including events at The Space and Keynsham Music Festival, and the initiative also encourages people to use the leisure centre at its quieter times.”
The leisure centre’s community sports manager Mark Harrison said he was delighted to support the scheme and that visitors would also be able to find out more about the many clubs and activities on offer at the centre during their visits.
Vouchers for 50 per cent off a court booking between 4pm and 6pm Monday to Friday and all day Sunday are available from the town council offices, which are open from 9am to 4pm weekdays.
Keynsham Leisure Centre is operated by Better and will be undergoing a major redevelopment as part of a scheme to transform the Riverside complex, with completion pencilled in for
