Plans for future of Keynsham K4 site taking shape

Developers hoping to create a new housing estate on land to the south west of Keynsham have begun putting together their proposals.
The site known as K4, bordered by Charlton Road, Parkhouse Lane and Abbotts Wood, is earmarked for around 200 homes in Bath and North East Somerset’s core strategy.
Housebuilders Persimmon Homes and Bloor Homes each own half of the land and are working together to produce a masterplan, with representatives meeting Keynsham Town Council’s planning committee on January 26 to discuss their thoughts on the site.
The committee were told access would be from Charlton Road and that 30 per cent of the homes would be affordable.
Councillors raised questions about bus, pedestrian and cycle access onto the site and suggested there should be improvements made to existing road infrastructure, such as the well used road to Whitchurch.
The developers’ representatives said the plans were at an early stage and discussions were being held with council officers as well as Keynsham Development Advisory Group (KDAG) before more detailed proposals were drawn up to be submitted for planning consent.
