A new principal who will be joining Broadlands Academy at the start of 2017 says he is looking forward to leading the school on its journey towards obtaining outstanding status.
James Hall, who is currently deputy head teacher at Hayesfield Girls’ School in Bath, is taking on the leadership role from January.
Mr Hall lives in Timsbury and has previously worked at Somervale School in Midsomer Norton and for the Cabot Learning Federation. He said: “Broadlands Academy is a fantastic school that has shown significant improvement and development over recent years.
"The Ofsted Good grading, awarded in January 2016, shows that the school is already on the road to being outstanding and it is my ambition that Broadlands gets this recognition.
“I do believe all students deserve success and should be able to achieve their own ambitions.”
He added: “I am delighted to be appointed the new principal of Broadlands Academy and look forward to leading the school in the next stage of its outstanding journey.”
Mr Hall takes over from current principal Dean Anderson, who has been promoted to the post of director of education (secondary) for the newly-formed Reach4 Academy Trust and leaves at the end of this month.
Jonathan de Sausmarez, chair of the Broadlands Academy Management Board, said: “The examination results have improved rapidly since Mr Anderson took up post in January 2013 and Broadlands is a very different school and in a very strong position moving forwards. I would like to take this opportunity to wish Mr Anderson all the best for his new role and thank him on your behalf for helping to ensure that Broadlands students can achieve their potential.”
Stephen Ferguson, current head of school at Broadlands Academy, will serve as interim principal for the autumn term.
