New leaflets to guide walkers around Keynsham's rich history
Published on: 04 Jun 2016
Two new leaflets have been published to guide walkers to historic sites in and around Keynsham.
Keynsham and Saltford Local History Society has completed the first two in a series of leaflets that aim to encourage families to enjoy country walks and learn about the area’s past at the same time.
Produced with the help of a grant from Keynsham Town Council, the leaflets are in full colour and feature a map with full instructions plus information on points of historical interest along the way.
Richard Dyson from the society said: “A great deal of work has gone into these and we are very pleased with the result. Our area has a rich history but without a guide it is easy to overlook this; there is a
story behind almost every building.
“We hope that these walks will give a little insight into the lives of previous generations around the town.“
Both walks are about five miles in length and will take two to three hours. The routes covered are:
1. Keynsham to The Chequers, round Cleeve Woods and back via Willsbridge
2. Keynsham to Queen Charlton via Stockwood Vale, returning through Chewton Keynsham
The leaflets are free of charge and can be obtained by calling at the Town Council offices, in Temple Street, Keynsham or Saltford Library or Community@67 in Queens Road.
Copies will also be available at all the society’s events and will be published online at a later date.
