Keynsham Allotments can boast the greenest toilet in town!
Published on: 07 May 2016
Allotment-holders in Keynsham have unveiled what is probably the town’s most eco-friendly toilet at their site off Park Road.
The new composting loo has been a year in the planning, with the installation going ahead after members of Keynsham Allotment Association secured funding from the Big Lottery Fund and Keynsham Town Council.
The facility, installed by Ecotoilets, not only composts waste, its lighting and fan are also solar-powered and its shell is made using recycled materials and is maintenance-free.
It was officially unveiled by Councillor Carole Duckett, chair of the town council’s allotment committee, and members of the allotment association on April 28.
The toilet is also fitted with facilities for disabled users, as the association hopes to be able to provide a plot for disabled gardeners in future.
