It’s almost time… in just a couple of weeks, Keynsham’s new clocktower will be unveiled in the town centre.
More than two and a half years since the landmark tower and meeting point was removed, people are once again being invited to “meet at the clocktower”.
A brand new structure by artist Sebastien Boyesen will be unveiled at the square in front of the town’s library at noon on Saturday, September 19.
Eight-year-old Katie Watkins will get to reveal the tower to the crowds as part of the ceremony after her name was drawn in a competition for schoolchildren across the town.
Councillor Lisa O’Brien, chair of Keynsham Arts Advisory Group, said: “The Keynsham Arts Advisory Group is so proud of the new clocktower. It’s a fantastic way of celebrating the vitality of modern Keynsham and the heritage on which the town was built.
“As a B&NES councillor representing a Keynsham ward, I’m truly delighted to have this special landmark for the town.”
The event will also be accompanied by music from Keynsham Brass Band and an exhibition.
