Council aims to reopen Keynsham Memorial Park cafe for summer

Keynsham Memorial Park café is expected to reopen for summer, says B&NES Council, after more than 30 potential operators came forward to take over the venue.
Finding a new operator to run the café had “taken longer than originally anticipated”, said Cabinet member for community services Martin Veal, but the council expects an appointment to be made in mid-June.
The café remained closed over the Easter holidays after a deal to run the café in the interim fell through when the interested party pulled out.
As landlord, B&NES Council will maintain the building internally and externally until a new contractor moves in. The new operator will provide their own fixtures and fittings.
Councillor Martin Veal said: “We are very conscious of the importance of the café to the local community and the council considers that the café plays an important part in encouraging local people to spend more time in one of the area’s delightful and most popular parks.
“Although the appointment of a new café operator will have taken longer than originally anticipated, we are pleased that 30 new operators see the commercial potential in Keynsham Memorial Park for a café and our aspiration for a successful opening to meet demand during the summer months.”
