An event worth recording as Keynsham Talking Newspaper hits 1,500th edition

The team at Keynsham and District Talking Newspaper welcomed a special guest to their studio to celebrate a milestone edition.
The service, a free weekly audio magazine on memory stick, was launched in 1983 and on July 21 volunteers will be recording the 1,500th edition.
Chairman of Bath and North East Somerset Council Alan Hale dropped in on June 30 to meet the team and record an interview about his life and his work with B&NES, the police, Keynsham Foodbank and the Lions Club, before cutting a celebratory cake.
The service delivers its editions, which feature local news as well as a magazine section with a range of topics, through the post to almost 100 listeners from Keynsham, Bristol, Bath and surrounding villages.
The oldest listener was 105 in February and the longest-standing listener has been listening for 30 years.
If you or someone you know is unable to read newsprint, KTN would be delighted to supply them with the KTN service. If they do not have the means to play memory sticks, the group can supply an easy-to-use box to play them on. New listeners are welcomed and can contact 0117 299 3021.
